ਨਵੀਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ, 21 ਮਈ (ਪੰਜਾਬ ਟਾਈਮਜ਼ ਬਿਊਰੋ)- ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਰੇਖਾ ਗੁਪਤਾ ਨੇ ਵੀਰਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਸੱਤ ਲੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਰਾਸ਼ਨ ਕਾਰਡ ਰੱਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਰਾਸ਼ਨ ਕਾਰਡ ਜਾਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਮਦਨ ਸੀਮਾ ਵਧਾ ਕੇ 2.5 ਲੱਖ ਰੁਪਏ ਸਾਲਾਨਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।

ਗੁਪਤਾ ਨੇ ਇੱਥੇ ਪੱਤਰਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਲਗਭਗ 7.72 ਲੱਖ ਅਯੋਗ ਰਾਸ਼ਨ ਕਾਰਡ ਰੱਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਨਲਾਈਨ ਨਵੀਆਂ ਅਰਜ਼ੀਆਂ ਮੰਗੀਆਂ ਹਨ।

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪਿਛਲੇ 13 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਰਾਸ਼ਨ ਕਾਰਡ ਜਾਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਰੇਖਾ ਗੁਪਤਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ‘ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਡਿਟ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ 1.44 ਲੱਖ ਲਾਭਪਾਤਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਟਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜੋ ਆਮਦਨ ਦੇ ਮਾਪਦੰਡਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਖਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਤਰਦੇ ਸਨ, 35,800 ਲਾਭਪਾਤਰੀ ਜੋ ਰਾਸ਼ਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ, 29,580 ਲਾਭਪਾਤਰੀ ਜੋ ਮ੍ਰਿਤਕ ਪਾਏ ਗਏ ਸਨ, ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ 23,394 ਰਾਸ਼ਨ ਕਾਰਡ ਡੁਪਲੀਕੇਟ ਪਾਏ ਗਏ ਸਨ।’

ਫਿਲਹਾਲ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਸ਼ਨ ਕਾਰਡ ਲਈ ਯੋਗਤਾ ਲਈ ਆਮਦਨ ਸੀਮਾ 1.2 ਲੱਖ ਰੁਪਏ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਸਾਲ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

ਗੁਪਤਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਵਾਧਾ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਭ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

The X account of Cockroach Janata Party, the satirical digital outfit that came up last week and took social media by storm, was with- held in India on Thursday. Soon after, came another handle — ‘Cockroach is Back’ with the tagline ‘Cockroaches Don’t Die’.

“This (action) was expected since there were attempts to hack the account yesterday. But this is a self-goal by the government,” founder Abhijeet Dipke said. “I have now started a new account named ‘Cockroach Is Back’ on X,” Dipke added. He said the team would pursue the matter legally. Around 6 pm on Thursday, a few hours after it started, the ‘Cockroach Is Back’ X handle had over 39,000 followers.

One of the alleged masterminds of the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, Hamza Burhan, has reportedly been killed by unidentified gunmen in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), according to media reports emerging on Thursday. Hamza Burhan, also known as Arjumand Gulzar Dar, was said to be an Al-Badr terrorist commander originally from Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir. Reports claimed he was shot dead in Muzaffarabad by unknown assailants under mysterious circumstances. The 2019 Pulwama terror attack had left 40 CRPF personnel dead after a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into a convoy in Jammu and Kashmir, triggering heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday accused the Congress party and the Gandhi family of supporting infiltrators and questioned the party’s record on terrorism and Naxalism. Goyal asserted that India’s global standing and strategic partnerships have strengthened under the Narendra Modi government.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters here, he said the world today viewed India and Prime Minister Modi “with great trust”, while opposition leader Rahul Gandhi continued to display a “negative outlook” through his statements and speeches. He also asked “Is eliminating Naxalism treason? Or is allowing Naxalism to flourish for years under the Congress rule treason?” “The way the Congress Party and the Gandhi family support infiltrators is treason. Is honouring the Indian flag on a global stage considered treason, or is insulting the Indian flag abroad considered treason?” he added in response to Gandhi’s “traitor” barbs.

He said Secretary Rubio’s upcoming visit is extremely timely, reflecting a growing partnership that will provide newer and bigger opportunities for India’s youth, farmers, women, entrepreneurs, start-ups and industries, while opening up vast investment channels for the US capital.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reaffirmed his administration’s absolute commitment to the nation’s military readiness, stating that the government supports the strengthening of the armed forces with all its capacity, Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency reported. The president made the remarks during a high-level security meeting with Major General Amir Hatami, Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Army. According to the report, the discussions focused heavily on national defence policy, operational readiness, and the strategic reinforcement of the state’s military infrastructure. Underscoring the foundational pillars of the Islamic Republic’s defence doctrine, the Iranian President emphasised that internal cohesion and military capability are entirely codependent when safeguarding the nation from external challenges. “National unity and the authority of the armed forces are the most important backing for the country’s security,” President Pezeshkian stated during the meeting.
