In a major breakthrough amidst the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state, Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted a cross-border illegal arms smuggling module with the arrest of five accused persons and recovered eight sophisticated pistols along with live cartridges from their possession, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Wednesday.Those arrested have been identified as Arshdeep Singh alias D (21), a resident of Guru Ki Wadali in Amritsar; Manpreet Singh alias Mann (26), a resident of village Bhaini in Amritsar; Sukhraj Singh alias Billa (29), a resident of vil-lage Naushera Dhalla in Tarn Taran; Rahul Gill alias Rahul (22), a native of Bhikhiwind and presently residing at vil-lage Drajke in Tarn Taran; and Arshdeep Singh alias Gagarh (25), a resident of vil-lage Lohke in Tarn Taran. Arrested accused persons have previous criminal antecedents, with cases under the Arms Act, NDPS Act, Attempt to Murder, Kidnapping, and Prison Act registered against them.The recovered pistols include one 9MM Zigana, one .30 bore PX3 (Made in China), one .30 bore Beretta (Made in Italy), three 9MM Glock and two .32 bore pistols.DGP Gaurav Yadav said that pre-liminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused were in contact with a foreign-based smuggler through virtual numbers. The module was receiving consignments of weapons and drugs via drones from across the border for further distribution to criminal ele-ments in Punjab, he said.The DGP said that further investi-gation is underway to estab-lish forward and backward linkages in this case to iden-tify other members associat-ed with the network.

Court affirms Election Commission's authority to verify citizenship for electoral roll inclusion

The Supreme Court on Wednesday (May 27, 2026) upheld the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls as an exer-cise done by the Election Commission of India (ECI) in furtherance of the Constitutional principle of free and fair elections. A Bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant dismissed the petitioners’ view that SIR was a surrep-titious, backdoor move to conduct citizenship screen-ing in the name of cleaning up the electoral roll off aliens.

The petitions had accused the ECI of arbitrarily assuming powers to “deter-mine citizenship” while overriding limitations clearly prescribed in parlia-mentary laws, rules and its own manual without pro-viding “any good reason”.

The Supreme Court judg-ment upholding the consti-tutionality of the Bihar SIR would have an impact on further rounds of SIR. The second phase of the SIR, covering 51 crore voters in 12 States and Union Territories — including in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Assam — had com-menced even as the Bihar challenge was pending in the Supreme Court. The judgment pronounced by the Chief Justice in open court on Wednesday (May 27) said the ECI was empowered under Article 324 of the Constitution to examine citizenship to veri-fy inclusion in the electoral roll. This verification was not the final word on the citizenship of a person. The ECI, if it finds that a person did not have the necessary documents and did not pass the enquiry, could for-ward the case to the com-petent authorities in the Central government for adjudication under the Citizenship Act.

The court said SIR, though it stretched the modalities of electoral roll revision under the Representation of the People Act and the Registration of Electors Rules, cannot be invalidat-ed. It was done in an exi-gency but was not “mani-festly excessive”. The pro-cedural safeguards of revi-sion were complied with.

The court rejected the arguments raised by the petitioners, including the Association for Democratic Reforms, represented by advocates Prashant Bhushan and Neha Rathi, that SIR ipso facto reversed the burden of proof of citi-zenship on the voters.

The court said the variety of indicative documents, including Aadhaar, was a reasonable demand and part of a structured regime devised for verifying vot-ers. The court reiterated that SIR must continue to maintain a calibrated bal-ance in the choice of indicative documents.

The Bihar SIR hearings had seen the Supreme Court effectively intervene to make the massive exercise more inclusive. One of the effective judicial interven-tions was to include Aadhaar as the 12th in the list of 11 ‘indicative’ docu-ments that voters could file as proof of their identity or residence.

As the Supreme Court upheld the legality of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls done by the Election Commission of India (ECI), Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar on Wednesday (May 27, 2026) said the ECI “was, is and would always” be with the voters. “The first step for nation building is voting. Therefore, every citizen of India who has completed 18 years of age should become an elector and should always vote in accordance with the Constitution, elec-toral laws, rules and instructions issued there in,” the CEC said in a video message.

ਪਰਦੇਸਵਾਨੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ‘ਆਪਣੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀਮਾ ਪਾਰ ਹਮਲਾਵਰਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਪਰਕ, ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਟੱਲ ਹਮਲੇ ਦੇ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਭਾਰਤ ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਬਣ ਗਏ ਸਨ।’ ਪਰਦੇਸਵਾਨੀ ਵਲੋਂ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਇਹ ਸਖਤ ਸਬਦ ਉਦੋਂ ਆਇਆ ਜਦੋਂ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਪਰਿਸ਼ਦ ਵਿੱਚ ‘ਮੰਯੁਕਤ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਚਾਰਟਰ ਦੇ ਉਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਧਾਂਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਕਰਾਰ ਰੱਖਣ ਅਤੇ ਮੰਯੁਕਤ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ-ਕੇਂਦਰਿਤ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਜਬੂਤ ਕਰਨ’ ‘ਤੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਗੀ ਚੀਨ ਨੇ ਕੀਤੀ।

(954) ਅਤੇ ਦੋ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਬਣੀਆਂ ਬੰਦੂਕਾਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਹਥਿਆਰ ਬਰਾਮਦ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ, ਚੂਰਾਚਾਂਦਪੁਰ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਹੋਰਾਂਟ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੇਂਗਲੀ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਲਾਏ ਗਏ ਇੱਕ ਅਭਿਆਨ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਦੋ ਹੈਂਡਗ੍ਰੇਨੇਡ, ਮੈਗਜ਼ੀਨ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸਫੋਟਕ ਉਪਕਰਣ ਵੀ ਜ਼ਬਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਪੁਲਸ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਬਲਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਸਖਤ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ।

ਨਵੀਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ, 27 ਮਈ (ਪੰਜਾਬ ਟਾਈਮਜ਼ ਬਿਊਰੋ)- ਈਡੀ ਨੇ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ 46 ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ ਕੀਮਤ ਵਾਲੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਦੇ ਧੋਖਾਧੜੀ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਕਬਜ਼ੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਮਨੀ ਲਾਂਡਰਿੰਗ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਲ-ਫਲਾਹ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਥਾਪਕ ਸਵਾਦ ਅਹਿਮਦ ਸਿੱਦੀਕੀ ਅਤੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਹੋਰਾਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਾਰਜਸ਼ੀਟ ਦਾਖਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਜ਼ਿਕਰਯੋਗ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਅਲ-ਫਲਾਹ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਉਦੋਂ ਸੁਰਖੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਈ ਸੀ, ਜਦੋਂ 10 ਨਵੰਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਲ ਕਿਲੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਜਮਾਣਾ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ 15 ਲੋਕ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲਾ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਈਟ-ਕਾਲਰ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਈ.ਡੀ. ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਇਹ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਸਾਕਤ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਪੀ.ਐਮ.ਐਲ.ਏ. ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਦੀਕੀ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਚਲਾਈ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਤਰਬੀਅਤ ਐਜੂਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਫਾਊਂਡੇਸ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਦੇ ਦੋ ਹੋਰ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਵਿਨੋਦ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਮੇਸ਼ ਚੌਹਾਨ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਦਾਖਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

ਮਹਿਮਦਾਬਾਦ, 27 ਮਈ (ਪੰਜਾਬ ਟਾਈਮਜ਼ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼)- ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਕੋਸਟ ਗਾਰਡ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਜਰਾਤ ਐਂਟੀ-ਟੈਰੋਰਿਸਟ ਸਕੁਐਡ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਆਪਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰੀ ਤੱਟ ਨੇੜੇ ਇੱਕ ਕੰਟੇਨਰ ਜਹਾਜ਼ (ਮਾਲਵਾਹਕ ਜਹਾਜ਼) ਵਿੱਚੋਂ 115 ਕਿਲੋ ਕੋਕੀਨ ਬਰਾਮਦ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਕੀਮਤ ਤਕਰੀਬਨ 1,150 ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਹੈ। ਇੱਕ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਤ ਬਿਆਨ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਇਹ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ 25 ਅਤੇ 26 ਮਈ ਦੀ ਦਰਮਿਆਨੀ ਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਏਟੀਐਸ ਗੁਜਰਾਤ ਵਲੋਂ ਅਮੇਰਿਕੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਸ਼ੀਲੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਸਕਰੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਇੱਕ ਖਾਸ ਖੁਫੀਆ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਅਧਾਰ ‘ਤੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ। ਏਟੀਐਸ ਕਰਮਚਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਆਈਸੀਜੀ (937) ਦੀਆਂ ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਘੇਰਿਆ ਅਤੇ (ਜਿੱਥੇ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਰੁਕੇ ਹਨ) ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਸਰਚ ਆਪਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਥੋਂ

‘ਐਮਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸ’ ਵਜੋਂ ਪਛਾਣੇ ਗਏ ਇੱਕ ਕੰਟੇਨਰ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ‘ਤੇ ਛਾਪੀ ਮਾਰੀ ਗਈ। ਇਹ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਓਮਾਨ ਦੇ ਸਲਾਹਲਾਹ ਪੋਰਟ ਅਥਾਰਟੀ ਹਿਲ ਦੀ ਦੁਬਈ ‘ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ ਸੀ। ਸਾਂਝੀ ਟੀਮ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਰਾਤ ਦੇ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਬੈਗ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁੱਟੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਆਈਸੀਜੀ ਅਤੇ ਏਟੀਐਸ ਦੇ ਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਤੇਜ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਵੱਲ ਰੁਖ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਘੱਟ ਵਿਜ਼ੀਬਿਲਟੀ (ਧੁੰਦ/ਹਨੇਰੇ) ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜ ਬੈਗ ਬਰਾਮਦ ਕਰ ਲਏ। ਜਾਂਚ ਕਰਨ ‘ਤੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੈਗਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਬੈਗ ਦੇ ਪੈਕਟਾਂ ਦੇ 115 ਪੈਕਟ ਮਿਲੇ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਦਾ ਵਜ਼ਨ ਲਗਭਗ ਇੱਕ ਕਿਲੋ ਸੀ।

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ, 25 ਮਈ, (ਦਵਾਰਕਾ ਨਾਥ ਰਾਣਾ)- ਦੇਸ਼ ਭਰ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਰਾਜਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਨੇ 23 ਅਤੇ 24 ਮਈ, 2026 ਨੂੰ ਪੰਨੂ ਇੰਟਰਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ, ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ 9ਵੀਂ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਤਾਈਕਵਾਂਡੋ ਚੈਂਪੀਅਨਸ਼ਿਪ 2026 ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲਿਆ। ਡੀ.ਆਰ. ਮਾਡਰਨ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਸੈਕੰਡਰੀ ਸਕੂਲ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਵੱਕਾਰੀ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤਾ, ਸੋਨ ਤਗਮੇ ਜਿੱਤ ਕੇ ਸਕੂਲ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤਾ।ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ‘ਤੇ ਸਕੂਲ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਝੂਮ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਿਹਨਤ, ਅਨੁਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਭਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇਹ ਸਫਲਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ।ਸਕੂਲ ਦੇ ਐਮਡੀ, ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਪਠਾਨੀਆ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਈ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਪੱਧਰ ‘ਤੇ ਸੋਨ ਤਗਮੇ ਜਿੱਤ ਕੇ ਸਕੂਲ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਹਨਤ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ‘ਤੇ ਮਾਣ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਉੱਜਵਲ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਦੀ ਕਾਮਨਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।”

ਸਕੂਲ ਦੇ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ, ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਲਜੀਤ ਪਠਾਨੀਆ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਖਤ ਸਿਹਨਤ, ਅਨੁਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਚਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਰਗਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦਾ ਨਤੀਜਾ ਹੈ।ਅਸੀਂਹਰ ਹੋਣਹਾਰ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਸਕੂਲ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਸਰੋਤ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਵੀਆਂ ਉਚਾਈਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ।ਸਕੂਲ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਪਠਾਨੀਆ ਨੇ ਜੇਤੂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਉੱਜਵਲ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਰੰਤਰ ਸਫਲਤਾ ਦੀ ਕਾਮਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ।

ਫਿਲੌਰ, 25 ਮਈ (ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਰਨਾਲਾ)- ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈ ਰਹੀ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਗਰਮੀ ਅਤੇ ਹੀਟ ਵੇਵ ਦੀ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਦਿਆਂ ਕਮਿਊਨਿਟੀ ਹੈਲਥ ਸੈਂਟਰ ਬੜਾ ਪਿੰਡ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਸਿਹਤ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਐਡਵਾਈਜ਼ਰੀ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਅਫਸਰ ਡਾ. ਪਰਮਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਤੇਜ਼ ਗਰਮੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੀਟ ਸਟ੍ਰੋਕ, ਡੀਹਾਈਡ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਗਰਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਬਿਮਾਰੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਖਤਰਾ ਵੱਧ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਖਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ, ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗਾਂ, ਗਰਭਵਤੀ ਮਹਿਲਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ 12 ਵਜੇ ਤੋਂ 3 ਵਜੇ ਤੱਕ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਲੋੜ ਘਰੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਾ ਨਿਕਲਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਤਰਲ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ। ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਅਫਸਰ ਡਾ. ਮਮਤਾ ਗੌਤਮ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਲੋਕ ਦਿਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਰ-ਵਾਰ ਪਾਣੀ ਪੀਣ, ORS, ਨਿੰਬੂ ਪਾਣੀ, ਲੱਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਤਰਲ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਹਲਕੇ ਰੰਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੂਤੀ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਹਿਨੇ ਜਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਧੁੱਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਕਲਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਸਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਜਾਂ ਦਸਤਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਢੱਕਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਕਿ ਤਰਬੂਜ, ਖੀਰਾ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਫਲ ਵੱਧ ਖਾਧੇ ਜਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਜਾਂ ਪਸ਼ੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੰਦ ਗੱਡੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਕੱਲਾ ਨਾ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ। ਡਾ. ਮਮਤਾ ਗੌਤਮ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਜ਼ ਬੁਖਾਰ, ਚੱਕਰ ਆਉਣਾ, ਉਲਟੀ, ਘਬਰਾਹਟ, ਬੇਹੋਸ਼ੀ ਜਾਂ ਸਾਹ ਲੈਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਕਲੀਫ ਵਰਗੇ ਲੱਛਣ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਦੇਣ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਨੇੜਲੇ ਸਿਹਤ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਪਰਕ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਹੀਟ ਵੇਵ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸਾਵਧਾਨੀਆਂ ਅਪਣਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੀ ਸਿਹਤ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ।

Punjab is significantly strengthening high-risk maternal and neonatal healthcare through the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, ensuring that complicated deliveries and critical newborn care are accessible to families without financial burden. A major study based on India’s National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5) survey found that nearly one in every two pregnancies in the country is high-risk. Factors such as poor education, poverty, short gaps between pregnancies, previous birth complications and caesarean deliveries increase dangers for both mother and baby. Researchers say women from vulnerable backgrounds face the highest risks, highlighting the urgent need for stronger maternal healthcare and awareness programmes. The Sehat Card has emerged as a critical support mechanism for women requiring surgical intervention during childbirth due to complications such as prolonged labour, maternal health conditions, fetal distress and previous cesarean deliveries. According to official data received from the State Health Agency (SHA), as on May 25, a total of 7,300 maternity and neonatal care cases were treated under the scheme with expenditure amounting to 7.04 crore. Of these, 5,300 were high-risk caesarean deliveries accounting for ?6.37 crore, reflecting the growing role of the scheme in supporting high-risk pregnancies and emergency obstetric care across Punjab. Speaking about personal experience, benefici-ary Deepika, a 28-year-old woman from Patiala who faced pregnancy complications including anaemia, shares that she underwent a successful caesarean delivery fully cov-ered under the Sehat Card. Her husband Manoj shared that they were very happy that the procedures went smoothly and stress.
