West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday handed over land to the BSF for international boundary fencing and security infrastructure, beginning with a 27 km stretch, and said more land would be provided wherever required to strengthen border management in the state. Addressing a BSF land transfer meeting, Adhikari said the process marked the beginning of a larger initiative to improve border security in the state. “The land will be handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF) within two weeks. Initially, land covering a 27 km stretch along the India-Bangladesh international boundary is being handed over,” he said. Calling it the first step in a broader exercise, Adhikari said, “As a beginning, the land required to secure the 27 km stretch is being provided to the BSF.” Highlighting the need to expedite border infrastructure, the chief minister said a sizeable portion of West Bengal’s international boundary still remained unfenced. “In West Bengal, around 1,600 km of the total 2,200 km border with Bangladesh has already been fenced, while nearly 600 km still remains unfenced,” he said. “Wherever land is needed for fencing and border security, we will hand it over to the BSF,” he added. Targeting the previous Trinamool Congress government, Adhikari alleged that it had failed to cooperate on border infrastructure because of “vote bank politics and appeasement policies”. “The previous government, due to its vote bank politics and appeasement policies, did not give land to the BSF,” he claimed. Adhikari also alleged that coordination among the BSF, state police and district administration in bordering areas had weakened over the years. “For the last several years, coordination meetings between the BSF, state police and administra- tion in bordering areas had not happened,” he said. He said the district-level coordi- nation mechanism had now been revived.

Regular Flight Operations Will Not Only Benefit People but Also Boost Investment in Punjab

The commencement of flight operations from Halwara Airport marks the beginning of a new era of economic growth, connectivity and development for Punjab, with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann asserting that the long-pending project, completed through the deter-mined efforts and financial commitment of the Punjab Government, will accelerate trade, industry, investment and employment across the region. Visiting the airport terminal along with AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal for the first time after flight operations began, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann interacted with people and said the airport becoming operational reflects the Punjab Government’s com-mitment to strengthening infrastructure and bringing world-class facilities to the state. Highlighting that the Punjab Government spent nearly ₹54.67 crore on the development of the airport, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said regular flight operations from Halwara will not only provide major convenience to the people of Punjab but will also open new avenues for industrial investment and business activity in the state.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to honouring the legacy of freedom fight-ers and great saints, the Chief Minister said that after persistent efforts led to Mohali Airport being named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Adampur Airport being named after Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji, the Halwara Airport should now be named after Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, adding that he will raise the matter with the Centre.

Interacting with people during his visit to the airport, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Due to strenuous efforts of the Punjab Government, the air-port has now been made operational. The sole motive behind this move is to ensure that people of the state have access to safe, affordable and comfortable air travel.” He added, “This airport will help in easy movement of entrepreneurs, traders and industrialists from the region as well as other parts of the country to Punjab, thereby boosting trade, commerce and economic activity.”

Highlighting the difficulties faced earlier, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “In the absence of direct flights to Delhi-NCR, people, especially industrialists, had to face immense inconvenience while travelling to the nation-al capital by road. This not only caused undue harass-ment but also led to huge wastage of time, money and energy.” He further stated, “The operationalisation of this airport will greatly facili-tate the people of the region and also attract leading entrepreneurs from across the globe to make large investments in Punjab.”

Expressing confidence over the airport’s economic impact, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “This airport will act as a catalyst in accelerat-ing industrialisation in Punjab and further establish the state as the most pre-ferred investment destina-tion.” Reiterating the Punjab Government’s commitment to improving connectivity, he said, “More flights will soon be started from Halwara air-port to facilitate passengers. Enhanced air connectivity will further strengthen eco-nomic activity in Punjab and play a key role in the progress of the state and prosperity of its people.”

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said that the Punjab Government would strongly pursue with the Government of India the demand to name Halwara airport after leg-endary martyr Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha. CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha laid down his life for the nation at the young age of just 19 years. His supreme sacrifice inspired millions of people to fight against British imperialism.”

ਨਵੀਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ, 19 ਮਈ (ਪੰਜਾਬ ਟਾਈਮਜ਼ ਬਿਊਰੋ)- ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਧਿਰ ਦੇ ਨੇਤਾ ਰਾਹੁਲ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਨੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਸਥਿਤੀ 'ਤੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਡਾ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਸੰਕਟ ਵੱਧ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਆਮ ਲੋਕਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਪਵੇਗਾ।

ਪ੍ਰੈਸ ਕਾਨਫਰੰਸ ਦੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਰਾਹੁਲ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਨੇ ਮੋਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ‘ਤੇ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ ਸਾਧਦੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੁਝ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦਾ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਢਾਂਚਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਦਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਇਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਆਰਥਿਕ

ਸੰਕਟ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ, ‘ਮੈਂ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੁਝ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕਹਿ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੋਦੀ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦਾ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਢਾਂਚਾ ਬਦਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਸੰਕਟ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਬਦਕਿਸਮਤੀ ਨਾਲ, ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਸਦਾ ਖਮਿਆਜ਼ਾ ਭੁਗਤਣਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ। ਇਹ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਸੰਕਟ ਨਾ ਸਿਰਫ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰਾਂ, ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਛੋਟੀ ਜੇ ਪੂੰਜੀਪਤੀਆਂ ਕਰੇਗਾ, ਸਗੋਂ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਆਮ ਲੋਕਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਵੀ ਇਸਦਾ ਡੂੰਘਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪਵੇਗਾ।’ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਨੇ ਦੇਸ਼

ਸਮੇਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਮੇਂ ਸਿਰ ਠੋਸ ਕਦਮ ਚੁੱਕਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜ਼ਿਕਰਯੋਗ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਜੇਲ੍ਹਸਮੇਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਜਨ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਹ ਕਈ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲੈ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਬੇਰੋਜ਼ਗਾਰੀ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਮਹਾ ਰੈਲੀ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹੋਣਾ, ਗਾਂਧੀ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਦਾ ਉਦਘਾਟਨ, ਹਰਦਿਆਲ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਮਹਾ ਰੈਲੀ ਵਿਚ ਵਕਤਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ, ਲਾਲਗੰਜ ਦੇ ਮੇਨੋਰੀਅਲ ਵਿਖੇ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਸੰਕਲਪ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਵਗੜ੍ਹ ਬਲਾਕ ਨੰਬਰ-14 ਵਿਚ ਸਭਾ ਉਦਘਾਟਨ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ।

ਨਵੀਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ, 19 ਮਈ (ਪੰਜਾਬ ਟਾਈਮਜ਼ ਬਿਊਰੋ)- ਦੇਸ਼ ਭਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਮ ਜਨਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਹਿੰਗਾਈ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਹੋਰ ਵੱਡਾ ਝਟਕਾ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਤੇਲ ਕੰਪਨੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਪੈਟਰੋਲ ਅਤੇ ਡੀਜ਼ਲ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੀਮਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਔਸਤਨ 90 ਪੈਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਲੀਟਰ ਦਾ ਵਾਧਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਪੱਛਮੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀ ਜੰਗ ਕਾਰਨ ਕੌਮਾਂਤਰੀ ਬਾਜ਼ਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੱਚੇ ਤੇਲ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੀਮਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਗੀ ਅੱਗ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਅਸਰ ਹੁਣ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਖਪਤਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੇਬ ‘ਤੇ ਪੈਣ ਲੱਗਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਅੱਜ ਹੋਏ ਵਾਧੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਰਾਜਧਾਨੀ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਟਰੋਲ 87 ਪੈਸੇ ਦੀ ਤੇਜ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ 97.77 ਰੁਪਏ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਕੇ 98.64 ਰੁਪਏ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਲੀਟਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਡੀਜ਼ਲ 91 ਪੈਸੇ ਮਹਿੰਗਾ ਹੋ ਕੇ 91.58 ਰੁਪਏ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਲੀਟਰ ‘ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਮਹਾਨਗਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਤੇਲ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੀਮਤਾਂ ਅਸਮਾਨੀ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਮੁੰਬਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਟਰੋਲ 91 ਪੈਸੇ ਦੇ ਵਾਧੇ ਨਾਲ 107.59 ਰੁਪਏ ਅਤੇ ਡੀਜ਼ਲ 94 ਪੈਸੇ ਦੀ ਮਾਰ ਨਾਲ 94.08 ਰੁਪਏ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਲੀਟਰ ਵਿਕ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਅਨੁਸੂਚਿਤ ਜਾਤੀਆਂ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ਕੀਤੀ

ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ, 19 ਮਈ (ਪੰਜਾਬ ਟਾਈਮਜ਼ ਬਿਊਰੋ)- ਭਾਰਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਜਨਗਣਨਾ 2027 ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਫਾਰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਨੁਸੂਚਿਤ ਜਾਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਮਹਾਰੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਰਤਣ ਦੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਰਾਜ ਅਨੁਸੂਚਿਤ ਜਾਤੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਜਸਵੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਗੜ੍ਹੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅੱਜ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਅਨੁਸੂਚਿਤ ਜਾਤੀਆਂ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਹਾਰੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ/ਹਟਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਮੰਗ ਪੱਤਰ ਵੀ ਸੌਂਪਿਆ ਗਿਆ।

ਇਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਰਾਜ ਅਨੁਸੂਚਿਤ ਜਾਤੀਆਂ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਜਨਗਣਨਾ 2027 ਦੀਆਂ ਸੂਚੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਡਿਜੀਟਲ ਪਲੇਟਫਾਰਮਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਅਨੁਸੂਚਿਤ ਜਾਤੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਵਰਤੀ ਗਈ ਅਪਮਾਨਜਨਕ ਅਤੇ ਮਾੜੇ ਵਿਵਹਾਰੀ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਵਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਹਟਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਕੌਮੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਕੋਲ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਰਾਜ ਅਨੁਸੂਚਿਤ ਜਾਤੀਆਂ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਦਾਇਰ ਇੱਕ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ (ਨੰਬਰ 1211/26/ ਪੀਐਸਐਸਐਸਸੀ/5325-26) ਦਾ ਨੋਟਿਸ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ, ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਜਸਵੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਗੜ੍ਹੀ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਕਦਮ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਦਸਤਾਵੇਜ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹੀ ਦੀ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਸੰਵਿਧਾਨ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਛੇਦ 14 (ਸਮਾਨਤਾ), ਅਨੁਛੇਦ 17 (ਛੂਤਛਾਤ ਦਾ ਖਾਤਮਾ), ਅਤੇ ਅਨੁਛੇਦ 21 (ਸਨਮਾਨ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਊਣ ਦਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ) ਦੀ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਉਲੰਘਣਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਪੰਜਾਬ ਰਾਜ ਅਨੁਸੂਚਿਤ ਜਾਤੀਆਂ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਜਸਵੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਗੜ੍ਹੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹੁਣੇ ਸੌਂਪੇ ਗਏ ਪੱਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਭਾਗਾਂ/ਬੋਰਡਾਂ/ ਕਾਰਪੋਰੇਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਗਣਨਾ ਫਾਰਮੈਟ ਅਤੇ ਸਬ-ਗਣਨਾ ਪੋਰਟਲ ਤੋਂ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਹਟਾਉਣ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ ਉਪਾਅ ਸੁਝਾਏ ਗਏ ਹਨ।

ਲੰਡਨ, 19 ਮਈ (ਪੰਜਾਬ ਟਾਈਮਜ਼ ਬਿਊਰੋ)- ਪੂਰਬੀ ਇੰਗਲੈਂਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਕੌਂਸਲ ਦੀ ਨੁਮਾਇੰਦਗੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ 23 ਸਾਲਾ ਸਿਮਰਤਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਬਰਤਾਨੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਘੱਟ ਉਮਰ ਦਾ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਮੂਲ ਦਾ ਮੇਅਰ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਰਚ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਕਿੰਗਜ਼ ਕਾਲਜ ਲੰਡਨ ‘ਚ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਰਹੇ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਬੀਤੇ ਹਫ਼ਤੇ ਸਮਾਰੋਹ ਦੌਰਾਨ ‘ਐਲਮਸਟਰੀਟ ਅਤੇ ਬੋਰਹੈਮਵੁੱਡ’ ਦੇ ਮੇਅਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਅਹੁਦਾ ਸੰਭਾਲਿਆ। ਲੇਬਰ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦਾ ਆਗੂ 2023 ਵਿੱਚ ਐਲਮਸਟਰੀਟ ਅਤੇ ਬੋਰਹੈਮਵੁੱਡ ਟਾਊਨ ਕੌਂਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਮੇਅਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਨਿਭਾਈਆਂ ਸਨ।
