ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਦੀ ਅਣਹੋਂਦ ਕਾਰਨ ਗੁੰਡਾ ਅਨਸਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿਨੋਂ ਦਿਨ ਕਤਲ ਅਤੇ ਲੁੱਟਾਂ-ਖੋਹਾਂ ਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਵਾਰਦਾਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਜਾਮ ਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕਈ ਉਦਯੋਗ ਨੱਸ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਭਾਈ ਵਣੀਏਕੇ ਨੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਠੱਲ੍ਹ ਪਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਏ ਮੁਕ-ਦਰਸ਼ਕ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਵੇਖ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਅਮਨ-ਪਸੰਦ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਝੱਲਣਾ ਪੈ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਦਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਬਾ ਬਕਾਲਾ ਵਣੀਏਕੇ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ‘ਆਪ’ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਾਅਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਜਲਦ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਨਸ਼ਾ ਖਤਮ ਕਰਕੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਨਸ਼ਾ ਮੁਕਤ ਕਰੇਗੀ, ਪਰ ਸੱਤਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਵੱਲ ਤਵੱਜੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਸ਼ਾ ਦਿਨ-ਬ-ਦਿਨ ਹੋਰ ਵੱਧ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਨੌਜਵਾਨੀ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਖਤਮ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।

The national record holder, who stunned the country with a blistering 10.09-second finish in the men’s 100m, had spoken to a group of young girls training in Jalandhar, encouraging them to work hard and believe in their dreams.

The girls had cleared the PIS trials nearly two months ago and were practising at the grounds of Government Arts and Sports College, Jalandhar, when athletics coach Sarabjeet Singh Happy — who had earlier trained Gurindervir, connected them with the star sprinter over a phone call.

“Tusi vi ethe takk pahunchna hai, khoob mehnat kro, main vi ethe hi khed-da si,” Gurindervir told them in Punjabi. (You too have to reach this level. Work very hard. I also used to play here once). At that moment, the girls admired Gurindervir as a talented athlete. Pakistan has emerged as a mediator in the ongoing conflict, which triggered severe energy shortages and impacted economies across the world

Pakistan’s Army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir has held talks with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to end the West Asia conflict and establish lasting peace in the region, the Iranian government said on Saturday. Munir flew to Tehran on Friday for a crucial visit to expedite efforts for a peace deal between the US and Iran, said the Pakistan Army, adding that the visit was “part of ongoing mediation efforts”. Munir was received in Tehran by Iran’s Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi – believed to be close to Munir – was already in Tehran and engaging in talks with top Iranian officials when the field marshal arrived, according to the Army. According to a statement posted in social media by Iran’s government, Munir met Araghchi in Tehran to “discuss diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing further escalation and promoting

peace, stability, and security in West Asia”. Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency reported that talks between the two leaders went late into the night. This is the field marshal’s second trip to Iran in just over a month. Pakistan has emerged as a mediator in the ongoing conflict, which has triggered severe energy shortages and impacted economies across the world. Several analysts say that Pakistan enjoys the confidence of both Tehran and Washington.
Islamabad hosted senior leaders of the two sides last month for peace talks, the

first of its kind since 1979, but the parties failed to clinch a deal. The key sticking points are believed to be Iran’s nuclear programme and control over the Strait of Hormuz – a waterway that hosts roughly one-fifth of the world’s energy supplies in normal times. Shippings through the strait have been severely disrupted since February 28, when the US and Israel launched joint attacks on Iran, triggering retaliatory strikes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday expressed deep grief over the loss of lives caused by a deadly coal mine explosion in China’s Shanxi Province.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister extended his condo-lences to President Xi Jinping and prayed for the recovery of missing people. “Saddened by the loss of lives in a min-ing accident in Shanxi Province in China. On behalf of the people of India, my condolences to President Xi Jinping and the people of China,” PM Modi wrote. “May the bereaved families find strength in this tragic hour. Praying for the early and safe recovery of all remaining missing persons,” he added.

This diplomatic expression of solidarity from the Prime Minister comes in response to to a catastrophic gas explo-sion at the Liushenyu Coal Mine in the central Chinese province of Shanxi, which has claimed the lives of at least 90 people and sparked a massive emergency response. The South China Morning Post reported that 247 workers were under-ground when the disaster struck, and it remains uncer-tain whether additional per-sonnel are still trapped beneath the surface.

According to the state news agency Xinhua, the fatal gas blast ripped through the facility in Qinyuan county, situated roughly 520 km (320 miles) southwest of Beijing, occurring shortly after the mine’s systems triggered a carbon monoxide alert.

In the immediate aftermath of the tragedy, law enforce-ment officials took decisive action against the mine’s management, with execu-tives from the company that ran the mine being detained, Xinhua added.

The immense scale of the tragedy highlights why it has drawn international atten-tion and prompted diplomat-ic empathy from PM Modi.

The catastrophic incident stands as China’s deadliest coal mine disaster in over a decade, proving that while internal safety protocols have seen measurable improvements in recent years, the industry continues to suffer from a steady stream of fatalities.

Reacting to the immense loss of life on the ground, President Xi Jinping called for rescuers to “make every effort” to locate survivors, emphasising that the exten-sive aftermath of the acci-dent must be “properly han-dled”. The Chinese President insisted that those responsi-ble for the accident should be held to account.

According to the South China Morning Post, he added, “All regions and departments must learn from the lessons of the accident, remain vigi-lant regarding workplace safety, thoroughly investi-gate, rectify all types of risks and hidden dangers, and res-olutely prevent and curb the occurrence of major and seri-ous accidents.” Fearing com-pounding environmental complications at the disaster site, Xi also said that due to the rainy season, flood pre-vention measures should be undertaken.

Looking to repair strained ties, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Saturday said the US relationship with India is “incredibly important” and promised “more exciting and new announcements” in the coming months to strengthen ties. Rubio was speaking at the opening of a new annex building at the US Embassy here this afternoon, and said the US-India relationship is the “cornerstone” of the US approach to the Indo-Pacific. “The relationship with India is an incredibly important one, and it’s the reason why I’m here on this visit — to reaffirm those ties and build upon them.” “In the months ahead, we’re going to have even more exciting and new announcements about the development and the strengthening of the relationship between the two countries,” Rubio added. He was speaking at the embassy shortly before calling on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for more than an hour. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval were present at the meeting. India and the US will continue to work closely for the global good. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, after Rubio briefed him on the West Asia crisis and bilateral cooperation in defence, strategic technologies, trade and energy security. Rubio, who met Modi shortly after landing in New Delhi, invited the Prime Minister on behalf of President Donald Trump to visit the White House in the “near future”, according to US Ambassador Sergio Gor.

The US Secretary of State’s four-day India trip is largely seen as an attempt to recalibrate bilateral relations that have faced headwinds since mid-last year.

After the meeting, Modi posted on X: “Happy to receive the US Secretary of State, Mr Marco Rubio. We discussed sustained progress in the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership and issues related to regional and global peace and security. India and the United States will continue to work closely for the global good.” At the meeting, Rubio reportedly pitched supply crude oil from the US New Delhi is facing an energy crisis after the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and on-and-off sanctions on purchasing Russian crude. Rubio arrived in India the same day state-owned oil marketing firms raised fuel prices for the third time since May 15 to offset losses from buying costly fuel and selling it cheaper to consumers.

Rubio had arrived in Kolkata on Saturday morning and visited Missionaries of Charity, the organisation once run by Mother Teresa. Its licence to receive donations under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) was first revoked and then restored in 2022. On the Quad meeting scheduled for May 26, Rubio said, “We wanted to do it here, not just because of our commitment to that structure, but as a tangible sign of what an important role India plays for the United States and in our posture and approach to the Indo-Pacific.” He added that the relationship between President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Modi anchors the partnership. “It’s a personal relationship. The connection between them, and I think that’s incredibly important.” He described Trump and Modi as “two very serious leaders who are focused not just on the short term, but on the long term, and so I think that is important to note because it’s a key part of the foundation of the relationship between our countries.”

Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha who switched from the AAP to the BJP recently has been appointed as the new chairman of the Committee on Petitions of the Upper House. After reconstituting the Committee on Petitions, Rajya Sabha chairman C P Radhakrishnan nominated 10 members of the House to the panel. “Raghav Chadha has been appointed Chairman of the Committee,” a Rajya Sabha notification said. The panel has been reconstituted by the Rajya Sabha chairman with effect from May 20, it said. The members of the panel besides Chadha are: Harsh Mahajan, Gulam Ali, Shambhu Sharan Patel, Mayankkumar Nayak, Masthan Rao Yadav Beedha, Jebi Mather Hisham, Subhasish Khuntia, Rwngwra Narzary and Sandosh Kumar P.

The Centre on Saturday moved to take back the possession of one of India’s oldest and most-coveted clubs, the Delhi Gymkhana, citing purposes of national security and defence. The Ministry of Urban Affairs has written to the club management to return possession of the 27.3-acre area by June 5 – a move the Club Governing Body is currently discussing in an emergency meeting called at 5 PM. The Ministry of Urban Affairs, in a communication to the Secretary of the Delhi Gymkhana Club, has stated that the premises, a 27.3-acre property, was originally leased to the Imperial Delhi Gymkhana Club Ltd., later renamed Delhi Gymkhana Club Ltd., for maintaining a social and sporting club.

The Centre invoked Clause 4 of the lease deed, which authorises the lessor (the Centre) to re-enter the leased premises if the land is required for a public purpose. Exercising these powers, the Centre stated that the President of India, acting through the Land and Development Office, has terminated the lease and ordered the immediate re-entry of the property. This means the Centre, which had leased the land to the club, can now reclaim possession and resume control of the property.

The order effectively revives the long-running tussle between the Centre and the elite club over the status and control of the property, which has historically been linked to the government through lease arrangements dating back to the post-Independence period. Officials said the government has invoked its powers of “reentry and resumption” under the terms governing the land allotment. The communication directs the club management to peacefully vacate and hand over possession of the premises within the stipulated timeline. Located in the heart of New Delhi near key government and diplomatic establishments, the Delhi Gymkhana Club occupies one of the capital’s most high-value and strategically sensitive land parcels.

ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਮਝੌਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਮਜਬੂਰ ਸਨ। ਨੋਟਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਿਰਪਾਨ ਪਹਿਨਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਐਕਟ ਦੇ ਤਹਿਤ ‘ਗੰਭੀਰ ਵਿਤਕਰਾ’ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਮ ਦੀ ਅਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਲਈ ਸੰਵਿਧਾਨਕ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਸਥਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਆਰ.ਸੀ.ਐਮ.ਪੀ. ਸਣੇ ਵੱਖ ਵੱਖ ਸਿਖਿਆਲੂ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਸਰਵਿਸਿਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖਧਾਰੀ ਅਫਸਰ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਗੌਰਤਲਬ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਮ੍ਰਿਤਧਾਰੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਾਮਲਾ ਮਾਣਯੋਗ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਮਹਾਂਰਾਜ ਵਿਨੀਪੈਗ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਟੋਨ ਤੋਂ ਸਮਾਂ ਨਾ ਹੋਈ ਅਤੇ ਦਲੀਲ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਕਿ ਅਮ੍ਰਿਤਧਾਰੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾਨ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਰਵਿਸਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾ ਹੋਣਾ ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਬੰਧਕਾਰੀ ਨੇ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਗੁਲਾਬ ਨੇ ਸਰਵਿਸਜ਼ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਵਾਲਾ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਵਿਨੀਪੈਗ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਰ ਧਰਮ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਿਤ ਬਿਨੈਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ

ਹੈ। ਹੁਣ ਵਿਨੀਪੈਗ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਟੈਂਡ ਬਦਲਿਆ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖਧਾਰੀ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਵੀਂ ਨੀਤੀ ਬਣੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਦੱਸ ਦੇਈਏ ਕਿ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੀ ਸੁਪਰੀਮ ਕੋਰਟ ਵੱਲੋਂ 2006 ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਰਪਾਨ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਰੋਕਣਾ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਅਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਦੀ ਉਲੰਘਣਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਸੁਪਰੀਮ ਕੋਰਟ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਫੈਸਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਿਰਪਾਨ ਕੋਈ ਹਥਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਹੈ। ਉਧਰ, ਅਮ੍ਰਿਤਧਾਰੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਜਦੋਂ ਵਿਨੀਪੈਗ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੇ ਤਾਜ਼ਾ ਫੈਸਲੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਖੁਸ਼ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਸਿਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਲਿਖਤੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਛੋਟ ਦੀ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਆਰੰਭ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਮੀਦ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਨੀਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਰ ਸਿੱਖ ਬਿਨੈਕਾਰਾਂ ਲਈ ਨਵੀਂ ਵਾਟ ਦੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਇਸਲਈ ਵਿਨੀਪੈਗ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਨਵੀਂ ਨੀਤੀ ਲਾਗੂ ਕਰਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੋਈ ਸਮਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਦੇਖ ਨਹੀਂ।

ਇੱਥੇ ਜ਼ਿਕਰਯੋਗ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤ ਸਮੇਤ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਕਈ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਇੱਛੁਕ ਫੌਜ, ਸਰਕਾਰੀ-ਗੈਰ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਏਜੰਸੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਧਾਰੀ ਬੱਚੇ ਬੱਚੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਰਪਾਨ ਲਾਹ ਕੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਨਾ ਆਉਣ ਲਈ ਮਜਬੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨੀਤੀ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਰਾਹਤ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।
